Okay, so I'm pretty paranoid when it comes to getting box cuts and paper cuts, so this "trial and error" part of the lights project was mostly me trying to not accidentally stab myself. I'm planning on doing a flower design for the actual project, and make it so it can close and open with the light inside. (I'll post initial sketches next week)

I finally managed to finish the front and back of my maker book! It turned out a lot cuter than I expected it to be, and it really screams "BEA" so I'm sure nobody could ever mistake it for their own. The gift, unfortunately, didn't get a picture until AFTER it was wrapped because I worked double time to get it done because I had issues with the execution. Hopefully the person enjoyed my cute little drum!I found that there are a ridiculous amount of methods to use in order to really think about a design. I also realized that paint takes a while to dry, and that creating something for someone you don't know is interesting because there are no preconceived notions you have about them.I had fun getting to trust my impulsive ideas for once, especially for something like designing. I learned about how much immediate action is needed when it comes to thinking of something on the spot. It kind of reminds me of writing in class essays, I just have to use whatever's there. This is the idea that knowing the words to convey one's ideas is important. I believe that it is hard to express ideas without knowing exactly how to. Some people dance, others write. I draw. I think drawing was one of the things that helped me realize that other people out there had feelings and emotion just like I do. Without that ability to connect with others, I would have never been able to come out of that state of vague understanding. I keep fighting that feeling every day, and maybe I can help others realize that they are not the only person to experience life; but also that their perspective of it is truly unique as well. |
